Just wondering how much your blazer weighs?
Some have heavy bumpers and axles. Others are full of survival gear. Spec sheets show blazers weighing from low of 3,677lbs in 1971 and 1972 to a high of 4,778 in 1989.

If anybody has access to a truck scale and wants to weight their blazers post up your numbers!

If you can weigh front and rear axles separately and share your f/r bias too!

My 77 weighed in at a porky 5400 or so. Lot of added weight with 2 auxillary fuel tanks, steel rack on top, steel spare tire rack with 2 gas cans, light bar, push bar, axle truss out of 3/16 steel with large skid plate, double carpeted interior, 33 inch tires on alum wheels.

Couldn't you just weigh all the parts that are in your garage?

Mine weighed 5280lbs as it came from the military with the 6.2L diesel, TH400, and 33" tires on 1/2ton axles.

My dad had an '87 with 305tbi and SM465 trans, 37" GY MTR's, 1/2 ton axles. Wasn't really loaded down with much gear and his weighed in at about 5000lbs.

I hauled a 90' 3/4ton 4x4 suburban to the salvage yard and according to their scales it weighed about 5500lbs.

Just for curiosity/comparison, my '06 SuperDuty weighs 7800lbs. and our 18' car hauler weighs 3000lbs.

I assume that you are using coloradok5's online spec sheet (http://coloradok5.com/specs.shtml)?

Problem is, when it comes to the weights, that page is total bullcrap.

Here is a PM that I sent to Doppler back in August of last year:

"I told you the plate on my '78 didn't lie!!!!

Here's a 1st gen tag...

5,850 lbs:

Look at the '69-'72 specs........way off!
http://coloradok5.com/specs.shtml#1969

I knew my brain remembered my '78 as being way heavier. Their page shows the '78 as being 3,928 lbs. There's no way in holy hell my '78 weighed that. I remember seeing on the tag something close to 6,000 pounds.

I wish your truck had the original tags on it still. In fact, I wish my '84 had the tags too."

If anybody has access to a truck scale and wants to weight their blazers post up your numbers!

I plan on doing this sometime this year.

There spec sheet is listing weight, not GVW so they could be close, but I can't say for sure.

How do you know?

It simply states "weight", and does not specify.

At any rate, it is still hundreds of pounds, if not thousands of pounds off for the first gens. That's inexcusable.

Nope. I know for a fact I had about 700lbs of trash n those bags. 9 55 gallon bags. Cause I have weighed the truck before and it weighed in at 6200.

Just a quick note on this topic. Most of the spec sheets are for curb weight, how much the vehicle weighs empty. GVW has to do with how much your suspension can support, including the weight of the vehicle, which is why there is a front and a rear GVW on the ID tag.
